Specialty Corn Starches

SunOpta® Speciality Starches are thermally processed, high amylose corn starches. They are uniquely suited to improve texture and reduce fat and calories in dairy products or imitation dairy products. The ingredient declaration for these natural starch products is corn starch.

OptaGrade® and OptaMist® starches are acid stable, non-granular starches that gel instead of swell to provide viscosity. These specialty starches are very resistant to shear and have significantly lower in-process viscosities compared to traditional modified starches, a key advantage in high-temperature, short-time pasteurization.

OptaGrade® 350 (NEW) Very high tolerance to shear and very low in-process viscosity (viscosity develops upon cooling); gelatin replacement; excellent flavor and dispersion properties; works well as a single ingredient stabilizing system for thick and creamy products like Greek yogurt
